Conversations with Danny Weddle

After playing football at the University of Kentucky, Tom Becherer was the head coach when Maysville High School revived its football program in 1967. Becherer was the Bulldogs' head coach from 1967 through 1971. He guided the Shelby County Rockets to a state championship in 1987 and was the defensive coordinator for Collins High School's 2013 state championship team. Kenny Cracraft, a 1965 graduate of Mason County High School, is 28th on the Royals' all-time scoring list with 994 career points. He shares stories about playing for basketball coaches William "Teence" Ryan and Herb Childers and baseball coach Allen Smith and the Royals' first season in The Fieldhouse. 

Bill Forman was a standout basketball player at St. Patrick High School in the 1950s. He led the team in scoring his freshman, junior and senior seasons and is 29th on the Saints' all-time scoring list with 996 career points. After graduating from college, Forman was the head coach at St. Patrick for seven seasons. This interview was recorded in 2012.

Darrell Hill is a 1961 graduate of Maysville High School. He is a member of the Bulldogs' 1,000-point club and played on the University of Kentucky's 1961-62 freshman basketball team. Hill also was a member of Maysville High School's 1959 region champion golf team. 

Bob Hutchison, a member of Maysville's 1958 state championship baseball team, is the winningest coach in the history of the Mason County Lady Royals basketball program. This interview was recorded in 2012.

Robert Alexander played baseball and basketball at Maysville High School and Kentucky State University. He was a member of Maysville's 1958 state championship baseball team and was the first African American to play in the Kentucky state baseball tournament.

Rusty Ryan was the leading scorer for the first Mason County Royals basketball team in the 1960-61 season. This interview was recorded in 2010.

Jerry King played on Mason County High School's first basketball team, served his country in Vietnam, earned a basketball scholarship to Morehead State University and had a Hall of Fame career as a slow pitch softball player. This episode features interviews recorded in 2010 and 2015.

Duane Faris was a freshman left fielder on Maysville High School's 1958 state championship baseball team. He played two seasons of college baseball for the Eastern Kentucky Colonels and was a longtime junior high school basketball coach at both Maysville and Mason County. 

Jackie Allison was a member of Maysville High School's 1958 state championship baseball team. He is 21st on the Bulldogs' all-time basketball scoring list.
